Sailing here, in the Olympic waters, is special and the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre offers something for everyone from complete beginners to future Olympic champions, ages 5+!
We are a fully accredited RYA Training Centre, offering a wide range of RYA sailing and powerboat courses, instructor training packages and race coaching programmes. We also run successful schools & groups programmes and, with the Chesil Trust, the popular “Rod Shipley Sail for a Fiver” youth scheme.
We are proud of our fleet of over 55 dinghies from a variety of world class manufacturers such as Laser, RS, Topper and Ovington. Put them together with our highly qualified and dedicated team of instructors and coaching staff and it’s the perfect team for you – whether you’re new to the sport or a returning expert looking to fine tune technique or qualify as an instructor or coach.
The Centre is owned by the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and operates on a not-for-profit basis. The Centre receives an annual grant from the Foundation to offer sailing opportunities to those aged 5-24 years who might otherwise not participate because of financial, physical or social barriers.
The Centre also offers the charity the opportunity to develop sailing programmes in line with the Foundation’s aims and objectives, and to conduct research into the benefits of sailing.

“Our Sailing Centre is a place where we can reflect Andrew’s own drive and determination and deliver the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation’s objective to inspire the next generation through sailing. As trustees we are proud of the way the centre is developing and can now offer everything from taster sessions, school groups, RYA courses and longer term development and mentoring.” Sir Ben Ainslie, 4 x Olympic Champion and Foundation Trustee
