London 2012 will be run by LOCOG and they are looking for 70,000 “Games Makers” to help them put on an amazing show.
They will shortly be opening a registration process for individuals who wish to help stage the events so if you are interested in volunteering for any of the Olympic or Paralympic events please go to www.london2012.com and follow the link “Get Involved Now”.
The website will help you decide if being a Games Maker is for you, and if not, how else you can get involved in London 2012 and other volunteering opportunities. Applications open on 16th September 2010.

Dedicated and passionate 16 to 18 year olds sought as a team of Young Games Makers (YGM) in exciting and interesting roles at the London 2012 Games. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to be involved in the greatest show on earth and perform in critical roles right at the heart of the action!
We are calling on you as recognised leader, such as a teacher, coach, youth worker to be the potential team leader from your organisation (school, college or youth club) to pull together a team and make an application. It takes around 30 minutes to complete the application form on line.
Team sizes vary according to the role, ranging from as small as 2 to as large as 18. Check out our team and roles page to see the variety of sports and functional areas, at different Olympic and Paralympic venues, your team could get involved in!

YGM’s are needed to take on the role of Athlete Kit Team Member during the Paralympic Swimming competition at the Aquatics Centre on the Olympic Park.
Teams will be made up of 10 YGM’s and two team leaders.
YGM’s will perform on the field of play by escorting and supporting Paralympic Athletes to their line position and carrying their kit before and after the competition.
YGM’s are needed to take on the role of Print Distribution Team Member in the Technology team during the Olympic and Paralympic Games across the UK.
Team sizes will vary from two to 10, depending on the venue.
